To the Digital World... The Day of Departure

The Journey Begins

Sahgo's notes: Hey, good title. The English Version Writer is Adele Lim. And she made an EXCELENT JOB by DESTROYING this episode. I mean, I really liked this episode in the original, and.... she transformed it into some kind of "dumb goodbye" episode. Added stupid talk, RETARDED TALK, etc. Man, why do I keep comparing just to be more and more angry...

Side Note:
The beggining of the episode is way different in both versions. In both versions, the beggining of the episode had that Takato's narration. But in the original, he just says "Our city.... our world... and a world unknown for us...". The scene where Takato's and Ruki's parents are saying goodbye for them and Lee's writing an email, there's just silence originally. In the dub, the beggining has TOO MUCH of Takato's speech, and in Rika and Henry's scenes, there are a bunch of added thinkings.

Stupid Dialogue:
Silence
Henry: "I've scanned the network, and still nothing! I hope the other are having better luck"
Another proof that the writers have no idea about what they're doing. In the original, Lee is writing an email for his family, since he couldn't say goodbye to him. Once more, changed plot. Silence
Guilmon: "Now, where would I be if I was a door to the Digital World? This is sure making me hungry... but everything makes me hungry"
I have a bad feeling starting the comparison of this episode. Imaginary thinkings for Renamon! Henry's father: "Henry! Come here, you trouble-maker! Chop chop!" o_o!? Lee's father: "Give me your D'Arc"
Henry's father: "Give me your portable digi-thing"
You created it and you don't know its name? Henry: "Maybe mine (digivice) is broken. 'Cause I can't control Terriermon at all!"
Terriermon: "It'll take more than a piece of plastic to control me."
And for that we feel sorry. In the original, Lee's father says the creation of the D'Arc is a dream becoming reality. In the dub, he's just saying that Digimon coming to the real world can be dangerous, or something like this. Lee's father: "Tell me when you're able to talk with no hesitation"
Henry's father: "Tell me at dinner, ok? I smell -------------------"
That's pathethic. With the fact that, in the original, it was no dinner, just watermelons. I won't comment the comments about Jeri at her house. Leomon: "It's different... and at the same time, it is similar to this world"
Leomon: "It's very beautiful, but it's dangerous..."
Leomon: "You have a lion heart!" Nothing like a bad pun. Ruki's grandmother: "When I was at your age, I always wished to get out of this scary house, even being a family tradition living here. This house seems to be haunted, doesn't it?"
Ruki: "So you... knew about Renamon?"
Ruki's grandmother: "I thought she was a guardian spirit in a fox form, that was kindly protecting you".
(Etc)

Rika's grandmother: "At my age, I thought I was seeing things. I always know you have a guardian angel, but in my wildest dreams, I never thought it would be a talking fox. Oh well, you've always being a special girl."
Rika: "So you don't have a... problem with her?"
Rika's grandmother: "Not at all, I think she's simply beautiful. I guess she is one of these creatures I'm hearing about on the news."
(Changed etc).
I really liked that part, in the japanese version. Stupid Impmon talk, in an important scene. Kenta (sad): "No more soccer..."
Kazu (happy): "No more soccer!"
.......................

Censor:
In Yamaki's computer, the original data about Takato and Guilmon were in (duh) japanese, replaced with english in the dub. I don't know if the translation is correct, but it isn't idiot.

Stupid Dialogue:
Takato: "I'm sorry for this being a warn we're going to skip class instead of the self-avaliation text you asked for"
Takato: "P.S. - If I don't make it back, you can have the -------- in my locker"
The most stupid part of this line is, when Asanuma is reading it, the kana part with the sentence is ''selected''. So, what's the point in showing what she is reading if you're saying something completely nothing-to-do with the sentence? Kazu: "We're off to kick butt in the Digital World - that's educational, right?" No. Kenta: "I'll become clean before I go: I stole the class hamster" The class doesn't have one. Mrs. Asaji: "You can't even go ---------- pee without getting hurt! Your line was so (the only) ok until this.. Can't mention all the stupid talk in front of Guilmon's hideout Guilmon (to that mirror): "Hello, handsome!" Die, stupid dinosaur.

Cut:
(6 seconds) Ruki's mother drinking wine (even the wine glass being visible in some dub scene).
And notice: that red in Ruki's mother's face is showing she's drunk.
Hum... (3 seconds) After Ruki go away, she drinks more wine. Humm...

Censor:
As it happened before, the "Dejimon Teimaazu" on the flag was romanized to "Digimon Tamers". But it was made with a lack of ability: I mean, we can see the "Digimon Tamers" going up faster than the flag itself (if you understand me).

Stupid Dialogue:
Rika: "Hey, who's there?"
Kazu: "It's creepy dude"

The Yamaki scene had an acceptable translation, but it didn't have my FAVORITE SENTENCE THAT CAME FROM THIS MAN'S MOUTH: "I really envy you children". Oh well.
The original final narration was made by, well, the narrator. In the dub, Takato made the narration - a very stupid narration. Hey, Adventure law of the "character-narrator" is back!
