Ruki and Renamon, The Crisis of the Bond!

Divided They Stand

Sahgo's notes: Hum, not a horrible title. The dub was good-and-bad. The good part: there was no retarded puns. The bad part: the main plot of the original episode was changed a little. The English Version Writter is "Rebecca Olkowski" (who?). This woman should start trying making a more accurate adaption. Or an "accident" might happen to her... (just kidding XD).

Stupid Dialogue:
In most of the japanese episode, Yamaki doesn't say anything while in front of the Tamers' school, or Takato's house. In the dub, he just HAS to talk to himself. The same goes for Ruki. In this episode, she's quiet almost all the time. In the dub, imaginary talking, once again emphasizing the "I'm the best, **** the rest" stuff. I hate that. Her silence was the big charm of this episode XD

Cut:
(1 second) We see the digimon shooting at Renamon. We don't see they hitting her. OUCHHIIIEEE!!!!!

Side Note:
Waaah!!! One of my favorite scenes, ruined! After Renamon got hit (see the box above), she turns and say "Ruki, Card Slash!". Then, she notices that Ruki is not there, and silence dominates the scene.
In the dub, Renamon says "Rika, WHERE ARE YOU?!". I mean, what's the sense on that? Is not like Rika had the task of being there.
Maybe the adaption of this line was accurate, but not accurate enough to make me happy.

Well, for some reason they re-organized the scenes here.
JAPAN
- The digimon hit Renamon with that thunder or so.
- Culumon turns to Ruki.
- Lee and Terriermon comes, all the talk of "why aren't you helping her?"
USA
- Henry and Terriermon comes, all the talk of "why aren't you helping her?"
- Culumon turns to Ruki.
- The digimon hit Renamon with that thunder or so.

Ok, Ms. Olkowski, you're changing the original script, so, YOU'RE GOING TOO FAR! In the original, Ruki says that Renamon doesn't need her anymore, she is strong enough to battle by herself, etc etc. In the dub, Rika says Renamon was using her to digivolve, and that she wouldn't fall into that again. Yeah. Right.

Stupid Dialogue:
Culumon doesn't say half of what Calumon does.

Side Note:
Hum, I was happy this part was well adapted in the dub ^^ When Kato looks Guilmon, in the original she says "Kawaii!" [Cute]. Than Takato says "Kawaii? You mean, ''Kakoii'' [Cool], don't you?". In the dub, that was literally translated. It suited very well in the dub since "Cute" and "Cool" are somewhat similar words.

Stupid Dialogue:
Renamon received a good amount of imaginary thinkings too.

Censor:
In the fight between Renamon and Harpymon, almost all punches and kicks were censored with flashes (I hate that!)

Cut:
(6 seconds) Renamon gives Harpymon a crazy combo. Renamon Combo! Dragon Ball Z style!

Side Note:
Well, this is how this episode's dub is. No stupid puns, but too much plot changes. Renamon NEVER actually believed in what Impmon said to her (that she doesn't need anyone else's help). In the dub I can just think Renamon is too manipulatable.
The last scene was a little changed too. Until Kyubimon's "Why did you save me?" line, ok, but then, they modified one of my favorite scenes. In the original, Ruki answers "ah, it's.... because you're my partner... I had no choice...". Then, Ruki makes the same question, and Kyubimon answers "because you're my partner. I had no choice". Ruki smiles and says "Yeah, none of us had choice". Then, Jenrya says something about they having an unbreakable bond, and Takato says "Yeah. In the end, they had no choice", and everybody laugh. In the dub, the script is not-too-far not-too-close, but.... this "We had no choice" moment... is unreplaceable.
