Now You See It, Now You Don't


Sahgo's notes: You know, Adventure's dub titles weren't so dumb. In most part, a good dub. But some parts were to "idiotized" and Takato's voice actor performance was really disappointing. But fortunately, the main idea wasn't changed and there were several lines of dialogue that remained intact. Steve Blum wrote this episode... hum.... I hope it gets better and better ^^

Stupid Dialogue:
Once more, too much added talk. The beggining of the episode (city, Ruki) is silencious originally, but in the dub, there's Hypnos' people talk and Ruki's imaginary thinkings. But they're not stupid. Takato: "Great, now Juri thinks I'm crazy. And she's crazier than Calumon!" Yours and Calumon's craziness = Saban's fault. Calumon (about loneliness): "It's kinda silly!"
Guilmon: "You know, it IS silly!" You two ARE silly. Guilmon: "Takatomon!" Oh man, STOP!!! Takato: "Renamon!"
Guilmon: "Guilmon knew Renamon was in this place!"
Renamon: "Digimon feel each other. That's because we're born to fight each other."
Renamon: "Who were you expecting, boys? Your mommies?"
Takato: "Very funny!"
Guilmon: "I don't think a have a mommy, do I?...Hey, Takato is my mommy!
Takato: "Geez, Guilmon, don't call me that!"
Renamon: "Why not? You make a better mommy than a tamer, while you baby your digimon" Takato is right, it was very funny. Takato: "Thank you, Rika. It's not everyday you get to meet your "dream girl". He he, sorry, I just couldn't resist!" That's why she says you're weak and pathetic. You can't resist! YOU DO NEVER RESIST!!! Ruki: "If you call me 'RUKI-CHAN' again I'll finish you for good!"
Rika: "You mention that dream again and I'll send you to dreamland for good!" I undersand why they had to change this line. I mean, since in the dub Takato calls Rika "Rika", it would be hard to make anything different, but... 'dreamland'? Isn't that Kirby's world?
Note: -chan is a sufix usually used with girls and small children. It's somewhat a cute way to refering to somebody. Takato: "Man, she can't take a joke!" That's right. So, STOP DOING THEM! Guilmon says something stupid about sausages or something similar. But his dub voice is as hard to understand as his japanese voice.

Side Note
Okay, that's dumb. Takato is CRYING because Guilmon is going away, but his Voice Actor doesn't even TRY to make a sad voice. He just do the same voice as always. That really pisses me off, you can't destroy the emotion of a scene this way!!!!! Anger! And that's nothing-to-do-with-nothing, but I'm happy they didn't give stupid dialogue to Hypnos' people. If Yamaki said something stupid I would put a bomb in Saban's headquarter (if it still exists XD).

Stupid Dialogue:
Suzy (at the phone): "Hello, hello, hello..."
Takato: "STOP SAYING 'HELLO' AND GET HENRY!!....uh, please?" I won't comment.

Cut:
(3 seconds) The computer screen while Ruki's grandma is on a chat. EEEVILLLL KANJIIII.

Side Note
Well, they changed the order of scenes. In the japanese version, we see Hypnos making their... things... then we see the Tamers in the tunnel. Only after that we see Takato's parents worried. In the dub, they placed Takato's parents worried scene before Hypnos and their... things....

Stupid Dialogue:
Takato: "Why don't they ever make tunnels that aren't dark and scary?" For the same reason Saban makes you talk all this nonsense: no reason! And thanks to that alteration (of the Ruki-chan), they destroyed a very funny scene: Takato: "RUKI-CHAN!"
*Ruki looks angry to Takato*
Takato: "Uh! I mean, I'm glad you came, Ruki"
Takato: "Hey, Rika, you decided to come! That's awesome!"
*Rika looks angry to Takato*
Takato: "Uh! Yeah, you know, whatever" Huh?
 Takato: "No talking, let's find Guilmon!" The fact you're saying this in an originally silence scene is very contradictory. And the fact you says a bunch of stupid things right after this line is even more contradictory. Henry: "If that makes you any better, Rika, the tunnel might float to make we all swim there"
Rika : "It's just my luck, stuck down here with a couple of comedians!" You know, in the japanese version, I was very anxious to see the three tamers working together. In the dub, I'm very affraid of seeing future adventures of those three. Henry: "Maybe that Digital World from that TV show is real and we're in it!" If you're talking about Digimon Adventure or Digimon Adventure 02, the Digital World has sky, rivers, mountains, deserts, fields, etc etc. It's not a pitch-white space where you float on. Takato: "Cool, this is like I'm flying in my dreams!"
Rika: "You and your dreams..." So, aren't you going to send him to Kirby's Dreamland for good? Henry: "He's creting a road for us!"
Rika: "Well, yeah, Renamon could've done the same thing." No, she couldn't. Renamon: "The little one didn't even do anything"
Terriermon: "Well, neither did you!" Shut up, you two!
