Showdown Between Geniuses: Thomas vs. Nanami!

Sahgo's Notes: Wow, I'm am really impressed with the closiness of the episode titles o_o About the episode itself, this is one of my favorite episodes (if not my favorite of all of them). It has a great animation, a cool battle, comedy moments that are ACTUALLY funny and more importantly, the big factor that made Digimon Adventure so good: great character development from both sides (I was getting really tired of Ikuto's dilenma so it's good to see other characters being developed). As for the dub, this episode had a good script, but Philece Sampler's interpretation of Nanami was a little off (read: too high-pitched) and there was a lot of censorship. Rosemon, LOOK OUT!

Side Note:

I already note it above, but this episode's animation is damn good. The characters are beautifuly drawn and the action is a lot more fluid. It would be cool if more episodes were done like this.

 
Censor:

AAAND... the metal accessory in Kouki's lip. Yeah, you know what I'm talking about.

Meteor Dance -> Dancing Meteor (like GordoBaggins would say: "Don't ask.")


I didn't note it yet, but in the original some characters call Tohma "Professor Tohma" (because he graduated from the university at the age of 12, I guess). In the dub, they just avoid this. I don't note it because it doesn't make much difference and they usually don't even replace the "Professor" with anything, but in this episode there is a scene where Nanami calls him "Professor Tohma Norstein". In the dub she calls him "General Thomas Norstein", somewhat mocking his position of defending the Holy Capital. Riight....

 
Cut?:

(1 second) For some reason they cutted this scene ._. I guess they didn't like the over-exposure of Nanami's legs, or maybe there is a pantie-shot in a frame I couldn't catch, but anyway...

WOW. I knew they would be going to do something against BioLotusmon's skanky costume but I didn't think they would reach 4Kids' level! Anyway, some digital paint was used to make her clothes more covering o_o I can't really describe a lot, an image is worth a thousand words:

Inconsistency:

Altough BioLotusmon's breasts were extra covered in the dub, there are a bunch of shots in which they just left them there. And some scenes are actually much... uh... "naughtier" than most of the censored shots o_O


Stupid Dialogue:

BioRotosmon: "I am so fast I make a rocket look slow!"

Censor:

The symbollic snakes-with-Nanami's-head were also censored, since they were topless in the original. In the dub they added this... black.... thing... to cover her breasts. Seriously, what the hell is that? Is that supposed to be some kind of cloth? It doesn't look like! It looks like some random digital paint like those black squares they use to censor things in TV shows and... oh. Oh, the irony.

Why is it always black? Couldn't it be blue?

In this shot, not only her breasts but also her chest were covered o_O

Because, MAN, seeing a snake-human hybrid's back totally makes me wanna kill people.


OH. MY. GOD!

Nanami: "Together we can become GODS!"

...............I'm.... simply.... out of words. I don't believe it. She actually SAID that in the DUB version. She said the legendary forbidden G-word! o_O And she SCREAMED it! Can you believe that? Because I don't!
But, why can't Yggdrasil be referred to as a god? Nanami and Thomas can, but Yggdrasil can't? >_>


Inconsistency:

They forgot to censor BioLotusmon's panties in some shots.

 
Censor:

There is a scene in this episode where BioLotusmon opens her (no! It's not what you're thinking! >XD) arms and says something, and her boobs bounce a little. If I remember right this is the second time this effect is used (the first was in a scene in episode 20 which, surprisingly, wasn't censored at all). Anyway, in this episode the dubbers covered her breasts and panties digitally and stopped the bouncing. I can predict myself noticing that the same thing will happen to Rosemon in a near future.

 
Censor:

When BioLotusmon starts laughing and then "die" (...kinda), some sparks appears around her body at first. In the dub there are no sparks, tough you can still hear the spark sound o_o I think they paralized the first few frames so it would be easier to do their HORRIBLE breast censorship >_> (seriously, just look at that. It's so cheap!)
