A Birthday Kristy Will Never Forget!
| Tohma: "What pretense is this, Masaru?" Agumon: "Can't you tell? We're pretending to be maids." Thomas: "(...) What's the catch?" Agumon: "You don't have to catch anything: we're doing all the throwing!" I didn't catch it... |
| A translation try... not a good one, but... A sign. Oh! |
| In the original, Masaru wants someone who acts like a father to take care of Chika, but in the dub he wants someone who acts like a big brother. |
| Tohma's stupid schedule is translated (and fatefully enough, for me). But when he writes "Kristy's Magnificent Birthday Plan" in the dub, the scene seems fake, since the ''digiting'' of the letters doesn't look like a computer's... |
| Seriously, ''Sarah's'' dub voice simply doesn't mactch with her. In the original it is a kind-and-youngish mother voice, but in the dub it's such a fake-strict-voice... |
| And again, evil kanji (and even some romaji) erased always when
visible, in the city and even in Masaru's exam. What is this, 4Kids? Oh, Masaru's classroom's blackboard is translated too. And later, a question in Masaru's exam is... translated? No... the two sentences placed where originally was the question ARE Masaru's answer (what contradicts with what he actually SAYS, in both versions), and the question is... well, I guess the question is those scribbles down the picture. But... then Masaru's letter must be ENORMOUS O_O Or maybe the question is off-screen... or... You know what? Forget it, just take a look at the change. And the romaji letters saying "TOEI" in Tohma's credit card were erased. |
And finally, the almighty great censor! ![]() As I said, BomberNanimon (now Citramon) was digitally painted orange and had his wick turned into a leaf. The first american-made Digimon! Yay /o/ Wait... no, we shouldn't be happy. |
| Citramon: "I'm gonna squeeze you! Like an orange!" ...First orange pun... |
| Now started the ''digimon analyser'' window thingie. In the original the information is given by the narrator (oh, so he does exists), but in the dub it's by Thomas. I guess it will change the character depending on the episode. |
| Thomas (in the digimon analyser window thingie): "(...)He's a
champion level digimon whose Fruit Punch Nova sends his enemies to
the showers. Not exactly part of a balanced breakfast, believe me!" Yeah, I don't like eating BOMBS in my breakfast. |
| And, as I said, his bombs are digitally turned into... fruits of
some sort, and their explosions are digitally painted green too. Greeeeen festival! Oh, and... before I forget: in the dub, he doesn't explode things. He ''juice'' them. That is completely pathethic. I mean: WTH? The big menace of the digimon in the amusement park is because he's going to cover everything with damn fruit juice? Seriously, this is ridiculous! It seems like something out of Kids Next Door... Also, the edited explosions STILL LOOK LIKE EXPLOSIONS. Green, but, explosions. |
| Oh, and, by the way... the original name of this ''Fruit Punch Nova'' is ''Freethrow Bomb''. |
| (4 seconds) BomberNanimon doing his... bombing. Bomb!! Bomb bombing!! Whee! |
| Citramon: "Prepare to get juiced!" Well, I guess it can't be helped... I mean, look at him! He's a pun-magnet creature. Thomas: "We'll stay clear of the juice!" Another one... |
| Maybe to compensate for the previous cut, they added some seconds of Sampson (Satsuma) talking to Thomas from DATS headquarter. They even did some image-editing in the scene... |
| You know, some green ''juices'' are amazingly cheap-made, making them more ridiculous than they already are. And here's an example. |
| (1 second) A shot of BomberNanimon's face. I'M UGLY!!! And... try to ignore the karaoke effect. |
| Thomas: "Great! Now, squeeze the juice out of him!" What a waste... |
Wow, I guess this is the first image-editing inconsistency in this website... or not XD Anyway, they did erase BomberNanimon's wick here, but forgot to put the leaf. Maybe Gaogamon ate it! Also, we - could - say that this whole BomberNanimon-to-Citramon thing is an inconsistency since he's BomberNanimon in other media such as Digimon Digital Card Battle, but I understand the whole mess the network has with bombs, and that wasn't so strong at the time, so... Also, some shots later, BomberNanimon's wick is a liiitle visible in the dub (when Gaogamon is on Citramon). |
| (8 seconds) The ''massive bomb [fruit] exploding [juicing] menace'' scene is quite longer originally. I HAVE BOMBS! FEAR ME, I HAVE BOMBS!! NOT FRUITS, BOOOOMBSS!!! |
| Thomas: "Oh no! There's enough juice there to fill up the entire park!" OH, THE HUMANITY!! OH GOD I WONDER: WHAT, JUST WHAT COULD BE WORSE THAN THAT!? |
| (1 second) A scene of Tohma screaming ''Gaogamon!''. They're just too lazy to edit BomberNanimon in each little second. (2 seconds) A small shot of BomberNanimon and his bombs. (3 seconds) BomberNanimon being carried away by GaoGamon. WHOOOAA!! |
| They forgot the leaf again... when ''Citramon'' explo... er... juices in the air. |
| Citramon: "I'll be back! And even juicier than before!" And these were his final words... |
| Well, now to the final act: the explosion in the air. Fireworks. How can Orange Juicing manage to create fireworks? I have no idea. But the dub seems to make some sense out of it... I won't try to understand that. What I'll show here is the editing: JUICE!! IT'S RAINING JUICE! YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS? Not, it isn't a gay song. It means now it's 70 days left before Christmas! |
| Again, they added some completely out-of-nowhere scenes of DATS. |
| The little happy birthday message in Chika's cake is translated (not really fatefully, I guess). The editing is quite cheap, though... |
| Lalamon: "(about the present) I would help to grab it too, but I don't have hands!" Well, what really matters are the intentions... kinda... |
