Revival of the Ancient Digimon

Island of the Lost Digimon.

Sahgo's notes: What title is that? The digimon aren't lost! Not to mention there are already thousand of "Island of the Lost <put the lost thing here>" movies. Well, I'm back baby! Well... since I've already compared two movies, there's just one movie left (well... except for The Catastrophe's movies, but I don't have the guts), so, why not compare it!? So, comparison, here I come! o/ The movie itself: a very good movie. The script was well-written and there is plenty of action to make everybody happy. The animation is awesome and the sountrack (japanese) too. Fairymon's evolution was the great mess: this movie was aired in Japan when Grottomon was with Izumi's spirit. Writer, Steve Blum. He made a so-so job: he added lines, but nothing horrible. Besides that, he really loves to "not change lines but change the way they're developed". For example: if, in the original, Izumi says "The battle is coming closer...", in the dub, Zoe says "Oh no, we're out of time! Hurry up, we have to finish this quickly!". It doesn't change the meaning, but the way it's developed. That happens all over the movie, and gets annoying after some time.
The strongest point of this movie in the original was the music (anyone who watch the japanese movie should say the same: the music choices for this movie are even better than the series'), pretty sad, intense, increndible. In the dub, however, this is lost: I never liked the dub music but here it's horrible. I mean, this movie has a lot of battle scenes, but in the original, most of them are followed by sad BGMs, showing that the battle happening there was wrong. In the dub, however, we have that LAW that "Battle scenes have to have stupid action BGMs", so, the original emotion of all scenes are completely lost. Not to mention the dub music is the most unexciting thing ever ¬¬
(I have no intention of comparing Frontier. I don't hate it - to say the truth, I like it -, but I don't like it enought to spend weeks of my life comparing).

Side Note
Since there are no Frontier comparisons, I'll have to list changes (noticed in this movie) here. (Humans)
Junpei Shibayama --------> Junpei "J.P." Shibayama.
Izumi Orimoto ------------> Zoe Orimoto.
Tomoki Himi --------------> Tommy Himi.
(Digimon)
Vritramon -----------------> BurningGreymon (yeah, that makes a lot of sense).
Agnimon ------------------> Agunimon (well, that's not exactly a change).
Wolfmon ------------------> Lobomon (in Latin American lenguages, "Lobo" means "Wolf". That makes no sense).
Garmmon -----------------> KendoGarurumon (where's his shinai?)
Blitzmon ------------------> Beetlemon.
Fairymon -----------------> Kazemon (Kaze in japanese means "Wind". They replaced an english name with a japanese name. That makes even MORE sense!).
Chakkmon ---------------> Kumamon (Kuma in japanese means "Bear". Read the comments above).
(Attacks)
Salamander Break ---------> Pyro Tornado (I remembered Guilmon now).
Corona Blaster -------------> Pyro Barrage.
Licht Kugel [Light Ball] -----> Howling Laser.
Mjolnir Thunder ------------> Proton Slam.
Thor Hammer --------------> Thunder Fist.
Tornado Gamba [Leg] ----> Tempest Twist.
Arido Anca [Barren Hip] --> Love Tap.
Kachikachi Kachin ---------> Crystal Freeze.
Few! Whoa, that's it. Now, voices. Janpen/J.P. -> Well, the voice fits him well.
Tomoki/Tommy -> It's really good.
Koji -> It's good, but sometimes makes a weak performance.
Takuya -> It doesn't suit really well. As Takato, his voice actor makes he seem older than he is.{
Zoe/Izumi -> She sound too much valley girl, but it's a tolerable voice.
Neemon -> Annoying, really annoying.
Bokomon -> WHAT THE HELL!? IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ORIGINAL! His original voice is more childish, I don't know how to explain... in the dub, he is... a waiter!

Stupid Dialogue:
Silence.
Neemon.: "Are we there yet!"
Bokomon: "No!"
Neemon: "HOW ABOUT NOW!?"
Bokomon: "No!"
Neemon: "Nooow?"
Bokomon: "No no no no and no! Now, would you please stop asking?! UUhh!"
Neemon: "Okay... HOW ABOUT NOW?!"
Bokomon: "If you don't have a real question, be quiet!"
Neemon: "Bokomon?"
Bokomon: "Yes?"
Neemon: "I have a question!"
Bokomon: "What is it?"
Neemon: "ARE WE THERE YET?!"
Everybody: "NO!!".
Neemon: "Ok!"

The first lines of the movie. I have a bad feeling about this.
This last "Ok" is said when we can clearly see that Neemon's mouth is closed.
Koji: "You're gonna pick a fight with the sand dune?" [Updated 11.14.2007, thanks to Kanabi]
Zoe saying that Takuya and Koji started the fight was stupid. In the original, Izumi was telling both to stop the fight between the digimon, and Takuya and Koji answers that is none of their business.

Censor:
Logo, logo... It's hard to explain the change. Take a look for yourselves: Logo!

Side Note
Kotemon's dub voice is really good. It sound like a child ^_^ The same for Bearmon's dub voice.

Stupid Dialogue:
J.P.: "And I thought I was a big party machine!" I don't know about the party, but you're big.

Side Note
In the original, Grizzmon ordered Bearmon to warn HippoGryphomon about the attack. Also, Bearmon calls him "Big Brother". In the dub, Grizzlymon (yeah, minor name change) ordered Bearmon to stay and take cover. They don't mention that they're brothers now, just later. In the original, neither Bearmon nor Kotemon ordered the children to not tell their families. Also, while in the dub the writing say something about "Fear", in the original it says something about "Hatred".
Later, in the dub, when the message is complete, is "Fear and Anger"... okay.... ssuurre.....

Cut:
(1 second) A random beast digimon smashing a random human digimon against the wall. SMASHH!! (4 seconds) While Takuya runs, he passes through some random battles. That was cut (sorry for the image quality x_x) Random digimon battling! (2 seconds) A random beast digimon smashing a human digimon. SMASSHHHH!!

Stupid Dialogue:
J.P.: "My body isn't done for that kind of work!"
Zoe: "J.P., you say that about EVERY kind of work!".
Like the brain work?

Side Note
In the original, Murmuxmon is supposed to be exiled, not "extinct".

Cut:
(2 seconds) When Fairymon uses her Tornado Gamba, 2 seconds of the sexy part of the attack were cut XD Sexy sexy! (1 second) The sexy part of the Arido Anca too XD Sexy sexy sexy! (1 second) Also, one kick of Fairymon's Roseo Temporale hitting Murmuxmon. Aw... the sexy part is over.

Side Note
In the original, Grizzmon orders the beast digimon to help the children, not to retreat. The final battle against a big bird locked somewhere... I remembered now of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles' movie o_O; In the original, Takuya ends saying that who saved them were AncientGreymon and Garurumon. In the dub, Takuya says they saved themselves by learning how to cooperate - and blah blah blah. Also, in the original, when coming down, Bokomon was saying they were back to the Digital World, and everybody gets happy. In the dub, Bokomon is saying they should take a vacation, and everybody says "NO!". It's completely unappropriated! In the original, as always, the credits shown some pictures: The baby digimon swimming, the children with the Digitama and the babies, Kotemon returning and a picture of the ruins with Kotemon and Bearmon hugging.
