In the dub, when Cherrymon finds Puppetmon washing his face in the river to tell him what he did to Matt, a few lines in the exchange stuck out: Cherrymon: "Any second now, we'll hear the sounds of Wargreymon and Metalgarurumon locked in mortal combat." And later in the conversation before Puppetmon runs off: Puppetmon: "Mortal combat!? This I gotta see!" This sticks out for two reasons: 1) it possibly references the rather gory game, Mortal Kombat, that most parents that permit their children to watch the Digimon Adventure dub won't want their kids playing; and 2) "mortal combat" means fighting to the death of one or both opponents. Given the dub's tendency to go out of its way to avoid referring to death or dying ("We just get reconfigured and downloaded to another Thanks goes to Haley for catching that! |
